Six Southwest Technology Center students have been awarded Otha Grimes scholarships, a statewide scholarship program supporting adult students pursuing career training at Oklahoma CareerTech technology centers.
Recipients are Tyler Martinez, Konor Smith and Mike Powers, students in the Airframe Mechanic program, and Melissa Saldana, Naomi Cervantes and Juanita Campos, students in the Practical Nurse program.
Administered by the Oklahoma CareerTech Foundation, the scholarships help adult students with school expenses as they prepare for careers in their chosen fields.
Southwest Tech Superintendent/CEO Ericka Wiginton met with the recipients to discuss the scholarship’s significance and congratulate them on their hard work and accomplishments.

Financial Aid Coordinator Monica Cox played an instrumental role in the scholarship process, helping students navigate application requirements and coordinating award submissions. Cox also works to ensure all adult students are aware of available scholarships and other financial aid opportunities that can help them complete their training.
The awards reflect Southwest Tech’s commitment to connecting students with resources that support their education and career goals, fulfilling its mission of “Changing lives one career at a time.”
