Motorcycle Basic Safety Rider Course

Basic Rider Course

The Basic Rider Course is the best starting point for anyone ready to learn how to ride. This comprehensive course combines a 3-hour online eCourse with two full days of in-person training.

Class Details

  • Online Pre-requisite: Computer eCourse
    Must be completed prior to in-person training. Print your completion certificate and bring it to class.
    *If you’re unable to print it, email it to Tim at trabalais@swtech.edu several days before class*

  • In-Person Training Includes:

    • 5 hours of classroom instruction

    • 12 hours of on-motorcycle riding

    • Held Saturday & Sunday | 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. both days

Who Can Attend?

  • Must be at least 14 years old

  • Students under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver on the first day

  • Students without a driver’s license/permit must bring a birth certificate

Enrollment

Enrollment for Motorcycle Basic Safety Rider Course will be done onsite. This will allow the coordinator to go over all the information for the class, and present the student with eLearning module URL.

What To Bring

All students must bring the following gear to every session:

  • DOT-approved helmet

  • Eye protection (sunglasses or prescription glasses acceptable)

  • Full-finger gloves

  • Long-sleeve shirt or jacket

  • Long pants (no holes)

  • Over-the-ankle boots

  • Tires & Wheels (pressure and tread)

  • Controls (levers and cables)

  • Lights & Electrics (beams and signals)

  • Oil & Fluids (levels and leaks)

  • Chassis & Chain (frame and drive)

  • Stands (side and center)

• 100% tuition refund prior to the course start date, less a $10 processing fee.

• Fee of $25 assessed for all returned checks.
