Southwest Technology Center is proud to recognize Mr. Phil Bailey as the December Employee of the Month, honoring his dedication to students, commitment to continuous improvement, and positive presence across campus.
Mr. Bailey was nominated by colleagues for consistently showing up each day with a positive attitude and a quiet determination to do what is best for his students. He is known for never seeking recognition, yet consistently going above and beyond to provide meaningful work-based learning opportunities and thoughtful feedback that prepares students for success beyond the classroom.
“Mr. Bailey’s loyalty and tenure at Southwest Tech are a true testament to his character, dedication, and strong work ethic,” one nomination stated. “He quietly goes about his work, always focused on student success.”
Another nomination highlighted the strong start to his year and his willingness to grow and adapt. Mr. Bailey has embraced best practices in both the classroom and shop area, implementing suggestions to help his program run more smoothly. He has also made great strides in utilizing online curriculum tools, helping streamline grading while maintaining high instructional standards.
“While he never makes a loud fuss, he listens, learns, and implements changes as he goes,” the nomination continued. “He is always striving to become better each day and to offer the best learning experiences possible for his students. Not to mention, he greets everyone with a smile.”
Mr. Bailey was recognized with Dale Latham, Southwest Tech Superintendent, and Lindi Brooking, Marketing Director of Cattlemen’s Bank, an avid supporter of the program.
