Southwest Technology Center’s Graphic Design program empowers students to transform ideas into visual communication that informs, promotes, and inspires. Students learn to combine creativity with technical skill as they design logos, marketing materials, digital graphics, and print publications using professional tools and industry-standard Adobe software.
A defining feature of the program is its strong emphasis on real-world application. Students work on authentic design projects that mirror industry expectations, from branding concepts and promotional pieces to photography and layout design. Through this hands-on approach, students build a professional portfolio that showcases both artistic ability and practical production skills.
Instructor Janine MacSporran brings extensive design expertise and a passion for mentoring emerging creatives. Her classroom reflects current industry practices, encouraging students to think like designers considering audience, purpose, and visual impact in every project. Under her guidance, students develop confidence in both creative expression and professional workflow.
Students also gain leadership and career readiness experience through SkillsUSA participation, collaborative projects, and exposure to industry environments. These opportunities strengthen teamwork, communication, and presentation skills that are essential in today’s creative careers.
With a blend of artistic development, technical training, and real-world experience, Southwest Tech’s Graphic Design program prepares students for careers in advertising, marketing, print production, digital media, and beyond—turning creative talent into career opportunity.
