Southwest Technology Center’s Metal Fabrication program provides students with hands on training in essential welding and fabrication techniques used across construction, manufacturing, and industrial industries. Students develop skills in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding processes while learning blueprint reading, metal layout, cutting, and structural fabrication. This comprehensive approach ensures graduates are workforce ready with the technical knowledge and practical experience needed for high demand careers in welding and metal fabrication.
The program is currently led by Rick Sullins, who is serving as long term instructor while Southwest Tech seeks a full time Metal Fabrication instructor. Rick brings industry experience and a strong commitment to student success, ensuring continuity of instruction and hands on learning opportunities for students during this transition. His leadership maintains the program’s focus on safety, skill development, and industry aligned training.
Metal Fabrication students at Southwest Tech have opportunities to prepare for American Welding Society certification exams, giving them a competitive advantage in the workforce. Graduates leave the program equipped with in demand technical skills that support regional industry needs and workforce development across Southwest Oklahoma.
