Powerplant Graduates

Southwest Technology Center is proud to announce the successful completion of the Aviation Maintenance Powerplant program by 27 dedicated students who have finished 1,950 hours of rigorous technical training. With this milestone, the graduates are now eligible to stand for their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification examinations, a key step toward becoming licensed aircraft maintenance technicians.

The need for highly trained aviation maintenance professionals continues to grow nationwide. Industry reports project thousands of openings for aircraft mechanics each year as airlines expand operations, the global aircraft fleet grows, and experienced technicians retire from the workforce. Over the next 20 years, the aviation industry is expected to need hundreds of thousands of new aircraft maintenance technicians worldwide to keep aircraft flying safely and efficiently.

Programs like the Aviation Maintenance program at Southwest Tech play an important role in strengthening the workforce pipeline and preparing skilled technicians to support both civilian and military aviation. Through hands-on training and strong industry connections, including the nearby Altus Air Force Base, students gain valuable real-world experience while preparing for rewarding careers in aviation.

Southwest Technology Center congratulates these graduates on their achievement and wishes them continued success as they pursue their FAA A&P certifications and enter the aviation workforce.
