The Southwest Technology Center Board of Education is proud to announce the selection of Ericka Wiginton as the district’s next Superintendent.
Following an extensive and thoughtful search process, the Board identified Wiginton as the candidate who best reflects the values, leadership, and vision necessary to continue advancing Southwest Tech’s mission of Changing Lives One Career at a Time.
“Southwest Tech is a special place, and this decision was one we approached with great care,” said Board President Danna Robinson. “We were intentional in selecting a leader who not only understands career and technology education, but also values relationships, student success, and long-term impact across our district.”
Wiginton is an experienced educational leader with more than two decades of service in education and CareerTech. She currently serves as Chief Operations Officer at Southwest Technology Center, where she leads daily operations supporting CareerTech programs and ensures alignment with workforce demands, industry standards, and state regulations.
She began her career in education as a high school business and computer teacher and later transitioned to Southwest Tech as a Business and Computer Technology instructor. Throughout her time in the classroom, she built a strong foundation in curriculum design, student engagement, and career readiness. She later moved into administration as Director of Student Services, where she oversaw recruitment, enrollment, federal programs, and compliance with ADA, 504, and Title IX requirements, while strengthening partnerships with partner schools and enhancing program alignment and assessment practices.
In her current role, Wiginton oversees budgeting, facilities, personnel, and program implementation, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven decision making and collaborative leadership.
Wiginton holds a Master of Business Education from Middle Tennessee State University, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and an Associate in Science from Western Oklahoma State College. She also holds multiple Oklahoma certifications, including Superintendent and Secondary Principal.
A dedicated community leader, Wiginton is actively involved in professional and civic organizations, including the Oklahoma and National Associations of Career and Technology Education. She has served in leadership roles with the Kiwanis Club of Altus, contributed to workforce development initiatives, and currently serves as an Honorary Commander for the 97th Maintenance Group.
The Board extends its gratitude to all who contributed to the search process, including those who provided feedback and support along the way.
