Monte Brown joined Southwest Tech in the summer of 2022 as the Metal Fabrication instructor. Monte has been in the welding industry since 1998 and owns MLB Welding. Self taught, Monte holds a 6G welding certification along with forklift and confined space certifications.
Although he has just completed his first full week in the classroom, Monte is excited to have a fun year with the students; going to SkillsUSA competitions and representing SWTC with pride and honor and making cool projects with the new CNC plasma table. In the classroom/shop setting he most enjoys the new equipment that was purchased by SW Tech this year. He stated, “All of my students are great, they came into this year wanting to learn and progress into the welding field. I want to share all of the knowledge I have accumulated over the years in my trade. Books and videos are great but they do not hold a candle over learned knowledge.”
Born in Shattuck, OK Monte has been married to Katie for 12 years and together they have one son, Logan who is 10. He states he is loyal, a provider, and his wife says he is a comedian. In his spare time Monte is an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoys going to Stillwater and watching OSU Cowboy football. As a family they enjoy relaxing at their lake house at Foss Lake and love to go cruising the Caribbean with friends and family.
Fun fact about Monte is one of his ancestors is Abraham Lincoln and he dug swimming pools in Austin, Texas for Michael Dell and Sandra Bullock.
