Southwest Tech Aviation "Hangar 33 Spotlight of the week" is on Mr Schroyer and the General aircraft mechanic class as they are learning the tools utilized during inspection of aircraft parts. Mr Schroyer and the students have been spending time this week on the Magnaflux machine learning the importance of non destructive inspection (NDI) processes and its contribution to aviation safety. When using this magnetic process to inspect critical aircraft parts for defects that are not normally identified by the naked eye this shows how they can now be easily identified as critical flaws by trained personnel. These photographs of an aircraft crankshaft show cracks that are not normally visually detectable and can now be easily seen, shown here in the photos. Exciting progress and work by all!
