Happy National Aviation Day from SWTC Aviation!

Today, August 19, we celebrate National Aviation Day and the people who have made aviation possible—from the pioneers who first took to the skies to the skilled professionals who keep aircraft flying safely today.

National Aviation Day was established in 1939 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who designated August 19 in honor of the birthday of aviation pioneer Orville Wright, born on this day in 1871.

At Southwest Technology Center Aviation, our students are working toward becoming the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals. Through hands-on training, technical knowledge, and plenty of time in the hangar, they are building the skills needed to pursue their FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certifications and careers throughout the aviation industry.

With the 2026–2027 school year now underway, National Aviation Day is a great reminder of why we do what we do—and of the opportunities ahead for our students.

Here’s to the past, present, and future of aviation!

School Is Back in Session at SWTC Aviation!

The 2026–2027 school year is underway at Southwest Technology Center Aviation, and it’s great to see the hangar and classrooms full again!

Our returning students are settling back into the routine and picking up where they left off, while our first-year students are getting their first look at the hands-on training, aircraft, engines, and equipment that will become part of their everyday learning experience in Hangar 33.

There’s already plenty of energy and motivation throughout the program. Whether they’re continuing their training or just beginning the journey, our students share the same goal: developing the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become successful aviation maintenance technicians.

From classroom instruction to hands-on work in the hangar, there is a lot ahead of us—and we’re ready to get to work.

The 2026–2027 school year promises to be a great one at SWTC Aviation!

A simple game with a powerful lesson 👇

Next time you're out with your children, encourage them to count the motorcycles they see! 🏍️🚗🏍️

It's a fun way to stay engaged on the journey, while also helping develop the habit of looking out for motorcyclists!

Years from now, when they're driving, they'll be conditioned to look for riders—not just cars.
Sometimes, the smallest habits make the biggest difference.

Look twice. Ride safe. Drive smart. 💙
